Air-spaced APO triplet optical design

ED glass, also known as low-dispersion glass, is a type of optical glass specifically designed to reduce chromatic aberration.

The Askar APO series uses specialised optical designs and multiple lens elements to correct chromatic aberration, naturally providing finer detail and improved colour accuracy.

In the optical structure of a refractor, increasing the number of lenses and designing specific combinations can effectively improve chromatic correction. However, this also results in increased production costs and design complexity.

LOSMANDY DOVETAIL PLATE
The length of the dovetail plate has been extended to 400 mm, making it easier to balance on the mount.

THE REAR TUBE FEATURES AN INTEGRATED RETRACTABLE SYSTEM
It increases overall stability and ensures that the optical axis is not affected when the tube is extended, thus preserving image quality. The retractable section also includes a rudder-type locking ring that makes tightening and loosening easier.

316 MM HANDLE
Its special slot can also serve as a base for installing a finder.

PORTABILITY
As a large-aperture, long focal-ratio optical tube, its minimum length is only 883 mm, its net weight is 11.4 kg, and its total weight reaches 13.6 kg (including the handle, tube rings, and dovetail plate).

3.5" RIGID RACK-AND-PINION DUAL-SPEED FOCUSER
It is compatible with most motorized focusers on the market. A high-precision scale is printed along the 100 mm focusing travel.

There are two finder bases on each side of the focuser, providing additional mounting points for other astronomical accessories.

The rear of the focuser features a large 360° precision rotator with graduations that allow easy adjustments and the ability to save rotation angles, ensuring precise rotation. It is also equipped with an enlarged locking screw that provides secure fastening even under heavy loads.

VISUAL OBSERVATION
The rear interface of the focuser is supplied with a 1.25"/2" adapter, allowing the 160APO to reach focus easily when used with 1.25" or 2" diagonals and various eyepieces. Thanks to its retractable optical tube, it can also be used with a binoviewer for visual observation.

Reducers and flatteners will also be offered, providing more possibilities for the Askar 160APO.
