The GSO RC 305/2436 Truss Carbon OTA is a professional-grade 12" Ritchey-Chrétien astrograph designed for observatories and high-end astrophotography. Its quartz optics with dielectric coatings offer 99% reflectivity, delivering a wide coma-free field ideal for full-frame sensors.
The carbon truss structure provides both thermal and mechanical stability, critical for long exposure sessions.
Optical design: Ritchey-Chrétien (hyperbolic mirrors)
Aperture: 305 mm
Focal length: 2436 mm
F-ratio: f/8
Primary mirror: quartz, dielectric coating 99%
Secondary mirror: quartz, ~120 mm
Central obstruction: ~42%
Backfocus: ~250 mm from rear flange
Structure: carbon truss, CNC aluminum end rings
Tube weight: ~24 kg
Focuser: 3" Monorail with 1:10 fine focus, 2" and 1.25" adapters
Included:
Extension rings
Losmandy rails
Dust covers
Fully corrected field for sensors up to 60 mm
Free of coma and spherical aberration
Suitable for:
Planetary nebulae and galaxies
Long focal length deep sky imaging
Scientific photometry or spectroscopy
Due to its size and mass, this OTA requires a stable mount:
CEM70 / CEM70G – light-duty option (limit use)
CEM120 / EC / EC2 – ideal observatory solution
GM2000 HPS II Combi – high precision, perfect for imaging
GM3000 HPS – suitable for heavier setups or dual OTAs
Ritchey-Chrétien optics with flat coma-free field
Carbon truss design for maximum rigidity and thermal stability
Large 3" focuser supports heavy image trains
Built for full-frame sensors and advanced imaging workflows
Ideal for serious amateurs and professional observatories
