Askar 130PHQ Quadruplet Astrograph

The 130PHQ is a long-focal astrograph optimized for direct imaging: no external corrector or spacing calculation required. With 1000 mm at f/7.7 and a quadruplet design using two ED elements, it supports a 60 mm image circle and maintains a central RMS below 2 microns.

Askar 130PHQ Quadruplet Astrograph

The 130PHQ is a long focal length flat-field astrograph designed to meet the high demands of modern astronomical imaging. Its integrated optical system eliminates the need for external correctors and backfocus calculations: simply install your imaging accessories, focus, and you obtain a perfectly flat field across the entire sensor.

More capable than the 107PHQ with 23 mm additional aperture, it offers a significant gain in light-gathering power. With a 1000 mm focal length and an f/7.7 focal ratio, it is particularly suited for galaxies, globular clusters, compact nebulae and objects requiring resolution and contrast. Its quadruplet design including two ED elements ensures very fine control of chromatic aberration, coma and off-axis distortions.

Its integrated flat-field optical design covers a 60 mm image circle, supporting medium format sensors. The spot diagram shows minimal distortion at the field edge, while the central RMS radius under 2 microns reflects outstanding stellar sharpness.

The mechanical construction is on par with its optics: telescopic dew shield, precision CNC-machined tube, durable anodising, and refined finishing. Its 3.4″ rigid focuser supports heavy loads and includes a rotator. M68, M54 and M48 adapters simplify integration with full-frame cameras and filter wheels, and the M48 adapter accepts a standard 2″ filter.

A 3″ 0.7× reducer can be added, shortening the focal length to 700 mm and the focal ratio to f/5.4, effectively reducing exposure time and widening the field. Its multifunction handle, robust tube rings and standard Losmandy dovetail provide a rigid mounting solution compatible with modern equatorial mounts.

The 130PHQ is aimed at astrophotographers seeking a full-frame-ready instrument capable of resolving fine stars across the field, capturing subtle detail while remaining simple to use.
