Aplanatic coma corrector optimised for Sky-Watcher f/4 Quattro imaging Newtonians. Its 4-element optical design, including one FPL51 ED glass element, provides a flat field with pinpoint stars to the edge while leaving magnification unchanged.
Designed specifically for super-fast Sky-Watcher f/4 Quattro imaging Newtonians, the Sky-Watcher f/4 Aplanatic Super Coma Corrector provides coma correction while maintaining a flat field.
Its optical system consists of four elements. One of these elements is made from FPL51 ED glass and forms part of the optical design developed for f/4 Quattro Newtonians.
The corrector is designed to improve star quality across the image field. Stars remain pinpoint towards the edge of the corrected flat field, allowing the available imaging area to be used more effectively.
Unlike optical reducers or amplifiers, this corrector does not alter magnification. The original magnification therefore remains unchanged while coma and field performance are corrected.
The corrector requires 55 mm of back focus. This distance must be respected within the imaging configuration to position the camera sensor correctly in relation to the optical system.
Image height is 28 mm and the outside diameter of the corrector is 50.8 mm.
Connecting a camera requires a suitable M48x0.75 adaptor matched to the camera body. Sky-Watcher provides M48x0.75 adaptors for Canon and Nikon cameras.
Optimised for f/4 Quattro Newtonians
The corrector is optimised for:
• Sky-Watcher Quattro Newtonians
• f/4 focal ratio
• Imaging applications
Its optical design is therefore specifically matched to fast Quattro imaging Newtonians.
Coma Correction
The corrector is designed to correct coma in fast Newtonian telescopes.
This provides:
• Pinpoint stars towards the edge of the field
• Corrected flat field
• Improved use of the photographic field
4-Element Optical Design
The optical system contains:
• 4 elements
Among these elements:
• 1 FPL51 ED glass element
This forms the optical design of the aplanatic coma corrector.
Flat Field
The corrector is designed to provide:
• A flat field
This complements coma correction to improve image quality across the field.
Unchanged Magnification
The corrector does not alter magnification.
Magnification therefore remains:
• Unchanged
Its function is field correction rather than focal reduction or amplification.
55 mm Back Focus
Required back focus is:
• 55 mm
This distance must be maintained between the corrector and camera sensor plane within the imaging configuration.
Image Height
Image height is:
• 28 mm
Outside Diameter
Outside diameter is:
• 50.8 mm
M48x0.75 Camera Connection
Camera connection requires a suitable:
• M48x0.75 adaptor
The required adaptor depends on the camera body being used.
Canon Adaptor
Sky-Watcher provides an M48x0.75 adaptor for:
• Canon
• Product code 20237
Nikon Adaptor
Sky-Watcher also provides an M48x0.75 adaptor for:
• Nikon
• Product code 20238
