Description

The Askar 0.8x reducer for the 120APO is an optical accessory engineered exclusively to maximize the imaging capabilities of the Askar 120APO apochromatic refractor. Once installed, it reduces the native focal length to 672 mm and the focal ratio to f/5.6, providing a wider field of view and faster exposure times. This makes it particularly suitable for imaging large nebulae, extended star clusters, and faint deep-sky objects.

Its optical design is based on a carefully optimized triplet configuration, ensuring effective field correction across a full-frame image circle of 44 mm. This design delivers consistent image quality, with well-controlled star shapes from the center to the edge of the frame. Field curvature is corrected to maintain uniform sharpness across modern full-frame astronomical sensors.

The reducer features a standardized 55 mm back focus measured from the base of the M48 male thread, allowing straightforward integration with most astrophotography cameras and imaging trains. The front thread is M84x1. Supplied adapters include M68x1, M54x0.75 and M48x0.75, with the M48 adapter incorporating an internal 2-inch filter thread for direct filter installation.

The entire assembly is CNC machined to ensure mechanical precision and stability. Threaded metal dust caps are fitted on both ends to protect the optical surfaces when the reducer is not in use. With a weight of 0.75 kg, the reducer maintains good mechanical balance while providing the rigidity required for full-frame imaging setups.
