DayStar Filters Sol 130 mm Chromosphere Dedicated Solar Telescope

Description

The DayStar Filters Sol 130 mm Chromosphere Dedicated Solar Telescope is engineered for detailed study of the solar chromosphere at 6562.8 angstroms. Its chromosphere optimization reveals prominences flares active regions spicules and rapidly changing dynamic structures. Continuous evolution of features within minutes provides new observations every session.

Its telecentric optical system enables full solar disk visual coverage. Sensors taller than 16.5 mm see full disk natively. A 0.6x reducer allows wider field imaging with smaller sensors and a 0.33x reducer supports full disk capture for 1 over 1.7 inch sensors or larger. According to the manufacturer it is the smallest and lightest 130 mm narrowband solar telescope ever made. The integrated carry handle also functions as a solar finder.

Thermal tuning is electronically PID controlled with plus or minus 0.5 angstrom range and approximately five minutes settling time. The 18 mm blocking filter is fully integrated. Clear exit aperture is 19 mm. Focus travel supports imaging direct to filter as well as two inch diagonal and eyepieces. The dual speed 12 to 1 rack and pinion focuser designed by DayStar includes a locking mechanism and is compatible with most third party motor focus drives.

The tube features a locking retractable dew shield mounting rings with Vixen style dovetail and 1 4 20 mounting interface for camera tripods. Powered via USB 5 volt 1.5 amp micro B. Operating temperature 40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Dimensions diameters and weights are to be announced.

The Sol 130 mm is fully compatible with DayStar Quark accessory ecosystem including adapters tilting systems focal reducers battery solutions. The telescope is made in USA in DayStar vertically integrated facility where processes are maintained in house ensuring product serviceability even after decades.

Included accessories mounting rings dovetail integrated handle solar finder dust covers Imaging Flat Cap AC power supply 90 to 240 volt with US UK Euro Australian plugs USB cable 1.25 inch adapter and hard case. Warranty 3 years. Preorder open shipping April 2026 price to be announced. The Sol series is also available in 60 mm 80 mm and 100 mm versions.
