The DayStar Filters Sol 100 mm Dedicated Solar Telescope Prominance is a professional H-alpha solar instrument designed for observing solar prominences and dynamic chromospheric phenomena.

Its fully integrated design enhances the Quark concept: the telecentric Barlow lens is the focuser drawtube itself, ensuring perfect alignment, compactness, and rigidity. The Quark is permanently mounted, preventing accidental removal during public outreach. The etalon, Barlow, and blocking filter are internal structural components, ensuring absolute safety.

All lenses are optimized for 656 nm, maintaining the telecentric parallelism required for a narrow 0.5 Å FWHM bandpass. The Sol 100 provides a 0.75° full-disk field of view, a rare feature for a 100 mm aperture telescope.

Unlike multipurpose nighttime telescopes (optimized for ~500 nm), the Sol 100 is designed and coated specifically for the H-alpha wavelength. The DayStar-manufactured 12:1 dual-speed helical focuser provides smooth, accurate control and compatibility with most third-party motor systems (6 mm and 4 mm shafts, three M4 mounting holes).

The focus range covers both visual use (2″ diagonal and eyepiece) and direct camera mounting. A built-in solar finder in the mounting rings remains permanently aligned.

Constructed from CNC-machined aluminum, the Sol 100 is lightweight (3.6 kg) and compact (489–613 mm), small enough for airline carry-on luggage. The locking retractable dew shield ensures safe transport.

Electronic PID thermal tuning provides ±0.5 Å adjustment with 0.1 Å steps and ~5-minute stabilization. Power is supplied via USB 5 V / 1.5 A (micro-B) or 90–240 V AC adapter with US, UK, EU, and AU plugs.

Included accessories: Vixen/¼-20 mounting rings with built-in solar finder, Flat Cap diffuser, carry handle, covers, 1.25″ adapter, USB cable, AC power adapter, and hard case.

Fully compatible with DayStar Quark accessories, including 2″ eyepiece adapters, tilt adapters, focal reducers, and battery packs.
