DayStar Filters Sol 60mm Dedicated Solar Telescope – Prominences

    Description

The DayStar Filters Sol 60mm Dedicated Solar Telescope is a fully integrated solar telescope designed for Hydrogen Alpha (656.28 nm) observation. It is optimized for solar prominences and reveals dynamic solar features such as flares, spicules, filaments, and active regions.

Manufactured in the USA at DayStar Filters’ vertically integrated facility, every step of production — from optical machining to final assembly — is carried out in-house to ensure maximum quality and alignment precision.

With a 60 mm aperture and an effective focal length of 930 mm (f/15.5), it delivers sharp, full-disk solar views with outstanding resolution. The built-in 4.3× telecentric Barlow is optimized for Hydrogen Alpha transmission, ensuring uniform illumination across the field.
A 13 mm blocking filter and PID-controlled electronic tuning system provide stable and precise wavelength control. Manual fine-tuning is available with a ±0.5 Å range in 0.1 Å steps, allowing selection between chromosphere and prominence emphasis.

The dual-speed 12:1 helical rack-and-pinion focuser developed by DayStar ensures smooth, accurate focusing. It includes a locking brake and compatibility with third-party focus motors via 6 mm and 4 mm shafts and three M4 mounting holes. The fine focus cone diameter is 34 mm when both knobs are removed.

The CNC-machined aluminum optical tube includes a lockable retractable dew shield and an integrated carry handle that doubles as a solar finder.

    Included accessories:

    • Tube rings and Vixen-style dovetail with ¼-20 tripod thread

    • Protective caps and flat field cap for imaging

    • 1.25″ eyepiece adapter

    • 90–240 V AC power supply (US, UK, EU, AU plugs)

    • 5 V USB power cable (1.5 A, micro-B)

    • Rigid transport case

The system requires external power for correct thermal tuning operation. Settling time after power-up or tuning adjustment is approximately 5–6 minutes.
Fully compatible with DayStar Quark accessories, including focal reducers, tilt adapters, and battery systems.
Also available in 80 mm, 100 mm, and 130 mm apertures. Covered by a 3-year warranty.
