DayStar Combo Quark Prominence
New product
The DayStar Combo Quark Prominence converts long focal ratio refractors, Maksutovs and Schmidt-Cassegrains into professional-grade H-alpha solar telescopes. Designed for f/15 to f/30 systems, it delivers bright and detailed views of solar prominences. An ERF filter is mandatory for mirror-based instruments.

The DayStar Combo Quark Prominence is a high-performance H-alpha module designed for safe solar observation with long focal ratio telescopes.
It integrates a solid-state Fabry-Perot etalon, a complete blocking filter system and optics optimized for the 656.28 nm wavelength.
Unlike the standard Quark, this version does not include a built-in telecentric lens and is intended for direct use with slow optical systems (f/15–f/30) or with a separate telecentric lens when required.
The Prominence model is optimized for bright, high-contrast views of solar prominences and outer chromospheric details. Its slightly wider bandwidth than the Chromosphere version makes it ideal for visual observation of dynamic plasma structures.
For safe operation, Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov users must employ a front-mounted Energy Rejection Filter (ERF).
Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes require an off-axis ERF to reduce aperture and heat load within the optical tube.
Maksutovs operating near f/15 can use the full aperture but still need a front-mounted ERF to prevent overheating.
The module includes a 1.25-inch male nosepiece with safety slot, a 2-degree offset 1.25-inch adapter for off-axis ERFs, and a 1.25-inch female eyepiece holder with a brass compression ring.
It operates on USB 5 V – 1.5 A and comes with a 90–240 V AC power adapter and international plugs.
A tuning knob allows wavelength adjustment of ±0.5 Å with 0.1 Å increments, while LEDs indicate power, warming, ready and fault conditions.
The Combo Quark Prominence includes a 25 mm blocking filter and a 21 mm clear aperture, suitable for refractors or catadioptrics operating between f/15 and f/30.
It provides full-disk viewing up to about 1800 mm focal length and can be used with larger instruments for high-magnification views.
