Description

The DayStar Quark Chromosphere module instantly converts a refractor telescope into a high-quality H-alpha solar observation system.
Its all-in-one construction integrates a 4.2x telecentric lens optimized for the 656.28 nm wavelength, a solid-state Fabry-Perot etalon and a blocking filter system that removes all radiation from X-ray to infrared.

The Chromosphere version is designed for detailed solar surface observation. It reveals filaments, granulation and chromospheric structures, while still allowing excellent visibility of prominences. Its narrower bandwidth delivers superior contrast and fine detail.

No special configuration is required. The Quark fits directly into a 1.25 or 2-inch diagonal. It features a brass compression ring to protect accessories, a wavelength tuning knob with ±0.5 Å range and 0.1 Å steps, and LED indicators showing power, warming, ready and fault states.
Power is supplied via USB 5 V – 1.5 A, and a 90–240 V AC adapter with international plugs is included.

The Quark Chromosphere performs best with f/4 to f/8 refractors and provides full-disk viewing up to 450 mm focal length.
For telescopes with apertures above 80 mm, an ERF (Energy Rejection Filter) is strongly recommended to manage heat load and protect the etalon’s thermal stability.

The unit is supplied in a rigid Twist-Case for safe and dust-free storage.
