DESCRIPTION
The ASBF 50 mm filter enables safe visual and photographic solar observation in white light with compatible optics such as camera lenses or binoculars. It incorporates Baader’s original AstroSolar Safety Film OD 5.0, mounted without tension to maintain diffraction-limited optical quality. The film is fixed to a plastic support ring inside a precision aluminum front cell. Three rubberized brass-tipped centering pins provide secure mounting for instrument diameters from 55 to 96 mm, depending on internal or external placement. A sliding black shield prevents stray light entry, and three Velcro safety straps are included for additional security. Two filters are needed for binocular use. This design ensures optimal mechanical fit and uncompromised image sharpness for solar imaging or visual use.
