Description

The Celestron EdgeHD 14 is a flat field aplanatic Schmidt Cassegrain optical tube designed to produce aberration free images across the entire visual and photographic field. Unlike standard designs, it corrects not only off axis coma but also delivers a flat focal plane across the entire field of view, ensuring pinpoint stars on modern large imaging sensors.

This optical system produces a focal plane more than three times flatter than a standard Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, ensuring consistent image quality across the entire sensor. Stars remain sharp even at the edges, which is essential for digital astrophotography.

With a 356 mm aperture and a focal length of 3910 mm at f 11, the telescope provides excellent resolution and limiting magnitude. StarBright XLT coatings ensure maximum light transmission across a wide spectrum, improving contrast and brightness.

The mechanical design has been optimized for demanding applications. The aluminum tube includes cooling vents with 50 mesh filters to release hot air while preventing dust intrusion. Mirror support systems reduce image shift during long exposure imaging.

The EdgeHD 14 is highly versatile. It operates at f 11 natively, can be used at f 7 with an optional focal reducer, or reach f 2 by removing the secondary mirror and using compatible Fastar accessories. This flexibility allows adaptation to high resolution imaging and wide field astrophotography.

Each optical tube is individually tested for optical surface quality and imaging performance using a camera and artificial star, ensuring consistent quality and reliable field performance.
