Antlia Quad Band Light Pollution Filter for Astrophotography

    Description:
The Antlia Quad Band Anti-Light Pollution Filter is designed for use with both color and monochrome cameras. It allows for efficient imaging of deep-sky objects such as galaxies, reflection and emission nebulae, and star clusters—even under heavily light-polluted skies (Bortle 8 to Bortle 1). Its spectral transmission covers not only the visible range but also extends into the near-ultraviolet (NUV) and near-infrared (NIR) regions, which are less affected by artificial lighting.

This filter features a wide bandwidth tailored for fast optical systems down to f/2 while maintaining excellent color balance. By leveraging the high quantum efficiency (QE) of modern sensors in the NIR, the Antlia Quad Band filter improves image contrast and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Some deep-sky targets, such as M51 or M83, emit significant energy in the NIR range—this filter enables better contrast and visibility of such targets even under polluted skies. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use this filter with cameras equipped with AR (anti-reflection) glass rather than UV/IR-cut filters to fully capture both visible and NIR signals.

This filter is not suitable for solar imaging or nighttime visual observation. Direct solar observation is strictly prohibited.

    Additional Information:
The Antlia Quad Band filter is a powerful tool for astrophotographers working under urban or suburban skies. It offers a balanced solution between light pollution suppression and faithful rendering of faint astronomical targets. The filter ensures consistent color balance, enhances contrast, and integrates seamlessly into post-processing workflows. Not recommended for visual observation. Absolutely not for solar use.

    Main Features and Applications

    Light Pollution Reduction
The Antlia Quad Band filter effectively blocks most orange-yellow emissions around 589 nm, as well as part of the blue light from LEDs.

Captures Over 95% of Deep-Sky Objects
A unique spectral design opens up greater imaging opportunities for astrophotographers.

High Transmission of Key Emission Lines
The filter delivers high transmission of critical emission lines (Hα, SII, OIII, H-Beta) in the visible range, improving SNR and image contrast.

    Near-Infrared (NIR) Transmission
Allows imaging of deep-sky targets not accessible with filters that lack NIR transmission.

    Wide Bandwidth for Fast Optics
The filter is optimized for fast optical systems, supporting focal ratios down to f/2.

    Good Color Balance
Shorter wavelength transmission contributes to easier and more accurate color calibration in image processing.

    Not Recommended For:

    • Solar imaging

    • Nighttime visual observation
