Rowan Astronomy Belt Kit for NEQ6 / EQ6 / Atlas EQ-G
DESCRIPTION
This belt modification kit replaces the factory spur gear transmission of NEQ6, EQ6, EQ6 Pro, and Atlas EQ-G mounts with precision timing belts. It significantly reduces gear backlash and periodic error common with standard gear systems, and it makes slewing operations much quieter by eliminating the typical grinding noise.
The belt ratio matches the original spur gear ratio, so there is no impact on the SynScan controller—tracking and GoTo functions remain fully operational. The belts used are 6 mm wide, and unlike other kits, this upgrade does not require any cutting or machining of the mount’s internal structure.
All pulleys are precision-engineered specifically for the NEQ6 series—no off-the-shelf parts are altered. The result is a smooth, precise, and reliable transmission system, optimized for both visual and photographic applications.
