Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 OTA

Designed to provide a long focal length in a particularly compact optical tube, the Sky-Watcher Skymax 127 OTA uses a 127 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system with a 1500 mm focal length and f/11.8 focal ratio.

Its design is particularly suited to detailed observation of the Moon, bright planets and close double stars, while also providing sufficient light gathering for brighter deep-sky objects.

The mirrors feature Radiant Aluminum Quartz RAQ coatings with stated reflectivity of up to 94%, while the front meniscus incorporates Sky-Watcher Metallic High-Transmission Coatings MHTC.

At only 33 cm long and weighing 3.4 kg, the Skymax 127 is highly portable and can be installed on a wide range of mounts compatible with its 45 mm dovetail bar.

127 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Optics

The Skymax 127 uses a 127 mm spherical primary mirror combined with a full-aperture meniscus corrector.

The Maksutov-Cassegrain design folds the optical path to provide a long focal length within a much shorter optical tube.

1500 mm Focal Length

With a 1500 mm focal length and f/11.8 focal ratio, the Skymax 127 is particularly suitable for observations requiring higher magnifications.

Sky-Watcher specifically recommends it for lunar detail, bright planets and close double stars.

Radiant Aluminum Quartz RAQ Coating

The primary and secondary mirrors feature Sky-Watcher Radiant Aluminum Quartz RAQ coatings.

The coating combines aluminium, tantalum pentoxide and silicon dioxide to provide stated reflectivity of up to 94% together with long-term optical protection.

MHTC Coating

The front meniscus corrector features Sky-Watcher Metallic High-Transmission Coatings MHTC.

This multi-coating system is designed to optimise light transmission through the corrector.

Integrated T2 Thread

The optical tube features an integrated T2 thread for connecting a compatible DSLR camera using the appropriate T-ring.

This provides a convenient connection for lunar and planetary imaging.

Moving Primary Mirror Focusing

Focusing is achieved through an adjustment knob that moves the primary mirror internally.

This maintains the compact mechanical design characteristic of the Maksutov-Cassegrain system.

Two Supplied Eyepieces

Two 1.25-inch Photo/Visual eyepieces are supplied.

The 20 mm eyepiece provides 75× magnification while the 10 mm eyepiece provides 150×.

Red-Dot Finder

A red-dot finder is supplied to assist with initial telescope pointing.

Compact Design

With a tube length of only 33 cm and a weight of 3.4 kg, the Skymax 127 provides a 1500 mm focal length in a particularly compact package.

Its 45 mm dovetail bar also incorporates 1/4-20 threaded holes.
