The ADPS II (Afocal Digital Projection System) with 2" nosepiece is a complete solution for afocal projection photography using digital cameras or camcorders with fixed lenses. It enables precise, compact, and stable imaging of lunar or planetary targets by directly aligning the telescope eyepiece and the camera lens. Based on the ADPS IV core system, this version includes a 2" T-2/M48a nosepiece (#2408150), compatible with any 2" focuser.

As with all ADPS systems, the key objective is to position the eyepiece (not included) as close as possible to the front element of the camera’s lens, to ensure sharp, vignette-free images. A sliding focuser with T-2 locking ring allows for fine adjustment of this distance. Even slight misalignment or excessive spacing can degrade image quality or cause vignetting.

The system includes three T-2 extension tubes (2 × 15 mm and 1 × 7.5 mm), which house the eyepiece and define the projection distance. The locking ring allows continuous rotation of the attached camera for optimal framing without disturbing the optical alignment.

The camera is connected using a DT adapter or DT-ring (not included), which must match the filter thread of the camera lens. If the camera lacks a native filter thread, a suitable adapter must be sourced from the camera manufacturer or dealer. ADPS can only function when a secure mechanical connection is available on the camera side.

The ADPS II is a modular, rigid, and highly adaptable system tailored to the specific demands of afocal projection with compact digital cameras. It is fully compatible with Baader’s T-2 system and allows future upgrades and extensions as needed.
