Description

The OPFA VI eyepiece projection adapter with M43 thread is a complete classical projection system tailored for Vixen telescopes that use an internal M43 x 1 thread. It enables high-magnification planetary or lunar imaging using digital or analog SLR cameras with removable lenses. This version is based on the OPFA standard base and includes a dedicated M43 adapter (#1508037), providing a direct and rigid connection to Vixen instruments.

The system includes the OPFA sliding focuser, two 40 mm T-2 extension tubes, and the M43-threaded adapter. The connection begins with the M43 male adapter, which screws directly into the telescope's M43 female focuser thread. This interface ensures a tight, centered, and light-sealed mechanical connection.

A 31.75 mm eyepiece (not included) is inserted into the focuser and can be moved axially to finely adjust the projection distance. This distance directly determines the equivalent focal length (fE), calculated as fE = fprimary × ((a ÷ fEP) - 1), where a is the distance between the eyepiece focal point and the sensor, and fEP is the eyepiece focal length. Greater projection distance or shorter eyepieces increase the magnification.

Two 40 mm T-2 extensions are included and can be extended with additional Astro T-2 components to fine-tune the projection setup. The assembly connects to the camera via a T-2 adapter ring specific to the camera body (not included).

The sliding focuser features a locking ring that allows for stepless rotation of the attached camera, ensuring ideal image orientation without disturbing the alignment. This function is critical in rigid threaded assemblies like OPFA VI, where telescope-side rotation is not possible.

With a 38 mm inner diameter, the system supports standard eyepieces with minimal vignetting. The structure is precisely machined, lightweight, and entirely rigid, ensuring mechanical stability even during long exposures or with high-magnification setups.
