Description

The Wanderer FilterCube 2 inch 50 mm is a motorized filter wheel developed for Prime Focus astronomical systems and especially optimized for RASA imaging configurations. Its advanced mechanical architecture uses a patented side-tilting filter system designed to optimize compactness while maintaining excellent compatibility with modern imaging systems.

The system provides four side-tilting filter positions together with one dedicated L filter position. It supports both mounted 2-inch filters and unmounted 50 mm filters, offering high flexibility for monochrome and multi-filter astrophotography configurations.

With an external diameter of only 114 mm, the Wanderer FilterCube introduces zero optical obstruction when installed on RASA 11 and RASA 36 systems. This compact mechanical design preserves the optical performance of the telescope while integrating a complete motorized filtering solution.

Featuring an optical thickness of 60.3 mm, the system meets the backfocus requirements of the RASA 11 when paired with cameras providing a 12.5 mm backfocus. For RASA 36 configurations, an additional WandererAstro adapter is required.

The FilterCube incorporates multiple mounting points to ensure broad compatibility with astronomy cameras from QHY, ZWO, ToupTek, Player One and other major manufacturers.

The mechanical design also integrates a manual Camera Angle Adjuster together with a rear 3-point tilt adjustment system. A dedicated access opening allows telescope collimation even while the FilterCube remains installed.

Following extensive field testing and imaging development, WandererAstro optimized the internal mechanical dimensions and anti-reflection baffles to reduce common RASA imaging issues including stray reflections, unwanted halos, rainbow artifacts and flat calibration difficulties.
