    Description
    The Baader Planetarium M68 – 100 mm extension tube is a precision-engineered mechanical component for professional optical configurations requiring a large backfocus increase. In demanding astrophotography and spectroscopy applications, any mechanical flexure or tilt in the optical train can severely compromise image quality and data reliability.

    This issue becomes more critical when using long and heavy accessories such as telecentric systems or the Fluorite Flatfield Converter (FFC). Their length acts as a lever on the focuser, and even with high-quality brass compression rings, a tilt can occur, affecting optical alignment.

    By adopting the M68 x 1 thread, derived from the Zeiss high-end optical systems standard, this extension tube ensures a wide, stable, and tilt-free screw coupling. It is machined from high-grade aluminium and features a fully blackened internal surface to suppress stray light, thus maintaining maximum image contrast.

    With its 100 mm optical length, it is ideal for:

    • Adjusting backfocus in complex optical setups

    • Using an FFC for high-magnification planetary imaging

    • Integrating a telecentric system with H-alpha filters for solar observation

    • Maintaining full compatibility with M68 and Zeiss threaded accessories
