Description:
The PlaneWave CDK17 is a professional-grade 432 mm astrograph based on the Corrected Dall-Kirkham (CDK) optical design. It delivers a perfectly flat 70 mm field free of field curvature, off-axis coma, and astigmatism—ideal for scientific and large-format astrophotography.
This version features Fused Silica optics, a synthetic glass of exceptional purity and extremely low thermal expansion. This ensures excellent optical stability and consistent focus even under significant temperature variations, making it a top choice for observatories and research facilities.
The CDK17 includes a standard back plate retaining ring, ready to accept the focuser of your choice. A 3.5" Hedrick focuser and optional EFA motorization kit are available separately. The system is Delta T Ready with pre-installed wiring for primary and secondary mirror heaters, requiring controller #1329110 (sold separately).
Spot diagrams are available showing the system's performance across large-format CCD chips (KAF 6303, 09000, and 11000) at wavelengths of 430, 585, and 730 nm. Star image diameters at the edge of the corrected field match current pixel sizes, with performance limited only by seeing and tracking precision.
