WandererAstro WandererBox PLUS V3

Description

The WandererBox PLUS V3 is a multifunction control hub designed to power and manage astrophotography equipment safely and efficiently.
It features multiple regulated DC outputs and fast USB ports for cameras, mounts, dew heaters, and accessories.

The main DC5525 input supports up to 12 V / 10 A and includes:

  • one direct DC output (10 A),

  • one adjustable regulated output 5–13.2 V (5 A),

  • one dew heater output (8 A),

  • and three switchable DC outputs (8 A total).

Connectivity includes 2 high-speed USB3.1 ports and 3 USB2.0 ports, all powered by a shared 5 V / 5 A supply.

The built-in regulator ensures stable voltage delivery, crucial for sensitive imaging equipment.
The adjustable 5–13.2 V range supports various devices such as cameras and accessories.

The system includes a DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor and a temperature probe for automatic dew heater control in three modes:

  • manual control,

  • constant temperature,

  • dew point differential.

Comprehensive protection covers short-circuit, overcurrent, ESD, and electrophoresis conditions.
A monitoring interface provides live readings of voltage, current, temperature, and dew point.

Technical specifications

  • Manufacturer: WandererAstro

  • Model: WandererBox PLUS V3

  • Type: power and communication controller

  • Input: DC5525, up to 12 V / 10 A

  • DC outputs:

    • 1 direct (10 A)

    • 1 regulated 5–13.2 V (5 A)

    • 1 dew heater (8 A)

    • 3 switchable (8 A total)

  • USB ports: 2 × USB3.1, 3 × USB2.0, 5 V / 5 A shared

  • Sensors: DHT22 (temperature / humidity) + temperature probe

  • Heater modes: manual, constant, dew-point differential

  • Protections: short circuit, overcurrent, ESD, electrophoresis

  • Monitoring: voltage, current, temperature, dew point

  • Weight and dimensions: not specified

  • Normally open DC output: 1x DC5525, internally directly connected to the input port, maximum 10A.
  • 5-13.2V regulator output: 1x DC5521, adjustable voltage, switchable, maximum current 5A
  • Dew heater output1x DC5521, can control the power of dew heater, can also be used as a switch, maximum current 8A
  • 3 parallel DC switch output: 3x DC551, switchable, maximum total current 8A

  • Two USB3.1 outputs can be used to connect cameras for high-speed readout.
  • Three USB2.0 outputs can be used to connect other devices such as equatorial mounts, WandererCovers, etc.
  • All USB output ports share a 5V 5A power supply capacity, which can power a USB dew heater.

  • The regulated DC port (0–13.2 V) features an adjustable voltage regulator (which can be turned off). It automatically adapts to input voltage fluctuations and ensures a stable power supply for the connected camera or other devices.
  • The adjustable output voltage allows compatibility with various equipment. Long power cables can cause voltage drops, and the power supply in remote observatories may sometimes be unstable. This port maintains a fixed and stable voltage, which is essential for the reliable operation of cameras — some models may experience image readout issues if the voltage falls below 12 V or becomes unstable.
  • Since the operating voltage of certain devices (such as most DSLR cameras) is not exactly 12 V, the 0–13.2 V adjustment range makes this port suitable for a wide range of equipment.
  • Finally, the regulated DC port can also be switched on or off as needed.

Included accessories (no additional purchase required):

  • 1 × DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor

  • 1 × temperature probe

Automatic and Intelligent Dew Heater Control

  1. Manual Control:
Manually adjust the power of the dew heater by changing the PWM port duty cycle (value from 0 to 255).

  2. Constant Temperature Control:
The WandererBox automatically maintains the dew heater at the desired temperature set by the user.

  3. Dew Point Difference Mode:
The WandererBox regulates the dew heater temperature so that it stays slightly above the dew point at all times.
This mode saves power, prevents condensation, and avoids overheating, ensuring stable operation and excellent image quality.

Built-in Protection:

  • Electrophoresis protection

  • Short-circuit protection

  • Overcurrent protection

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection

These safety features maximize the protection of the WandererBox and all connected devices.

The environment of a remote observatory can be harsh, and stable equipment operation is crucial.
The WandererBox series is specially designed to ensure the safety, reliability, and stability of your equipment even under challenging conditions.

Input Voltage and Current Monitoring
Sensor Monitoring

The intuitive visualization interface provides a clear overview of all key parameters — including voltage, current, dew point temperature, and more — all visible at a glance.

Note: Current readings are for reference only and may vary slightly due to environmental factors.

With Power Indicator Lights

The operating status is clearly visible at a glance.

The power indicator emits a soft, dim light that won’t disturb your dark-sky environment.
If preferred, you can easily cover the light to eliminate any illumination.

Low temperature resistant design, able to work normally in environment as low as -25℃ (-13℉).
