Description

The ZWO EFW 5x1.25-25 is part of the next-generation ZWO electronic filter wheels. Its internal design has been refined to reduce light leakage, which is important for deep-sky imaging.

Within the EFW range, the Ø1.25 inch model is stated to support Ø1.25 inch and Ø31 mm filters. The body is built from CNC-machined aluminum alloy for a compact, rigid, durable structure. The internal carousel is made from 6061 aluminum alloy to ensure stable and reliable rotation.

The filter wheel is powered directly via a single USB connection with no external power supply required. It draws 120 mA at 5 V and connects through a built-in USB-C port using the included USB 2.0 Type-A to Type-C cable. Software support includes ASIAIR, ASIStudio, ASCOM, and the ZWO SDK. The design is presented as plug and play with no driver installation required.

Light-leak protection is achieved through an upgraded sealing interface between covers, added lateral light-blocking pads, and a fully enclosed motor compartment. A high-precision stepper motor ensures smooth, consistent operation during extended imaging sessions. Automated filter switching is supported when used with compatible control software such as ASIAIR.
