Description

The ZWO EFW 7x50-25 is part of the next-generation ZWO electronic filter wheels, designed for advanced imaging setups using large-format sensors. Its internal design has been refined to minimize stray light, which is critical for long-exposure astrophotography.

This model supports seven 50 x 50 mm square filters. The body is built from CNC-machined aluminum alloy to provide a rigid, lightweight, and durable structure. The internal filter carousel is made from 6061 aluminum alloy to ensure stable and reliable rotation.

The filter wheel operates without an external power supply and is powered directly via a USB connection. It draws 120 mA at 5 V and connects through a built-in USB-C port using the included USB 2.0 Type-A to Type-C cable. Software compatibility includes ASIAIR, ASIStudio, ASCOM, and the ZWO SDK. The design is presented as plug and play, with no driver installation required.

Light-leak protection is achieved through an upgraded sealing interface between covers, added lateral light-blocking pads, and a fully enclosed motor compartment. A high-precision stepper motor ensures smooth and consistent operation during extended imaging sessions. Automated filter switching is supported when used with compatible control software such as ASIAIR.
