Versatile GoTo mount operating in both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes with a 20 kg payload capacity. The Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6GT Pro SynScan features dual encoders, a database of more than 42,900 objects and can carry two telescopes simultaneously in AZ mode.
Designed as a versatile heavy-duty astronomical mount, the Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6GT Pro SynScan can operate in either equatorial or alt-azimuth mode.
In equatorial configuration, it is intended for both visual observing and precision astro-imaging. In alt-azimuth mode, it is primarily intended for visual observation and allows two telescopes to be mounted simultaneously in parallel.
Payload capacity is limited to 20 kg in both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes.
The supplied SynScan hand controller features dual AZ/EQ firmware and provides access to a database containing more than 42,900 celestial objects for automatic locating and tracking.
Dual EQ and AZ Operation
The AZ-EQ6GT Pro can operate as either an equatorial or alt-azimuth mount.
In EQ mode it can be used for:
• Visual observation
• Precision astro-imaging
• Equatorial tracking
• Autoguiding
• Periodic Error Correction PEC
In AZ mode it is primarily intended for visual observation and allows two telescopes to be used simultaneously.
20 kg Payload Capacity
The retained payload capacity is 20 kg.
This capacity applies in both EQ and AZ modes.
Dual-Encoder Technology
The mount features a patented dual-encoder design.
This allows the telescope to be moved manually on either axis without the mount losing its positional information.
Users can therefore alternate between manual movement and motorised operation without losing the mount alignment.
Two Dual-Fit Saddles
Two dual-fit saddle plates are supplied.
They accept:
• 45 mm dovetail bars
• 75 mm dovetail bars
This configuration also allows two telescopes to be mounted simultaneously when operating in alt-azimuth mode.
SynScan GoTo System
The supplied SynScan hand controller provides automatic locating and tracking of more than 42,900 celestial objects.
GoTo operation is available in both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes.
Alignment Methods
In equatorial mode, available alignment methods are:

• 2-star alignment
• 3-star alignment
In alt-azimuth mode:

Periodic Error Correction
In equatorial mode, the AZ-EQ6GT Pro provides PEC control for correcting periodic drive error.
Autoguider Port
An autoguider port is integrated for equatorial astrophotography applications.
DSLR Shutter Release
An electronic DSLR shutter-release port is also provided.
This allows a compatible camera to be connected to the mount.
Polar Alignment
Polar alignment can be performed through software control.
A polar scope is also supplied with the mount.
