Description
The Explore Scientific ED APO 127mm f/7.5 is a high-performance triplet refractor designed for demanding amateur astronomers. Its air-spaced triplet lens system includes a central HOYA FCD-1 ED glass element, delivering superior chromatic correction and contrast compared to standard ED doublets typically found in this price range.
With a theoretical polystrehl rating exceeding 0.9, the optical performance ensures sharp, color-free images with high contrast across the entire field. Whether you observe planets, the Moon, or deep-sky objects, this instrument delivers excellent results. The f/7.5 focal ratio offers a balanced compromise between resolution, field size, and exposure times for imaging.
The tube is made of durable aluminum and fitted with a 2-inch rack and pinion focuser with a 10:1 fine adjustment. This provides precise, stable focusing even when using heavy cameras or accessories. A field flattener is available separately to provide a flat field across full-frame sensors.
Mechanically, the telescope features robust tube rings with a Vixen-type dovetail rail, a universal finder shoe, a 2" star diagonal with 99% reflectivity, a dust cap set, and a handle designed to mount smartphones or cameras.
This model belongs to Explore Scientific’s Essential Line, which combines quality optics and solid build with excellent value for money. It’s ideal for advanced users who want a powerful and versatile apochromat at a moderate price point.
