70 mm Super APO ED triplet refractor with Japanese Hoya FCD100 ED glass, 455 mm focal length and f/6.5 focal ratio. The Sky-Watcher Esprit 70EDX features a CNC-machined 2.8-inch dual-speed 11:1 Linear Power focuser and retractable dew shield.
Designed primarily for demanding astrophotography, the Sky-Watcher Esprit 70EDX uses a 70 mm apochromatic triplet objective incorporating a Japanese Hoya FCD100 ED glass element.
Its 455 mm focal length and f/6.5 focal ratio provide a compact configuration particularly suited to wide-field imaging while retaining excellent performance for visual observation.
All air-to-glass surfaces feature Sky-Watcher MHTC coatings, with stated light transmission approaching 99.5%.
The CNC-machined dual-speed 11:1 Linear Power rack-and-pinion focuser features a 2.8-inch indexed drawtube and 360° rotatable adapter for image framing.
Hoya FCD100 Super APO Triplet
The 70 mm objective uses a three-element apochromatic design incorporating one Hoya FCD100 ED glass element.
This optical configuration is designed to provide extremely high chromatic correction together with sharp, high-contrast images.
455 mm Focal Length at f/6.5
With its 455 mm focal length and f/6.5 focal ratio, the Esprit 70EDX is particularly suited to wide-field astrophotography.

CNC Linear Power 11:1 Focuser
Focusing is provided by a CNC-machined hybrid rack-and-pinion Linear Power focuser.
The 11:1 reduction allows precise fine focusing, while the 2.8-inch indexed drawtube is designed for high accessory loads with stated zero image shift.
360° Rotation
The main focuser itself is not rotatable.
A 360° rotatable adapter fitted to the focuser drawtube allows the camera to be rotated for precise framing.
Retractable Dew Shield
The retractable dew shield reduces the overall tube length during transport and storage.
The optical tube measures 368 mm with the dew shield retracted and 420 mm when extended.
Aluminium Optical Tube and Mounting
The aluminium optical tube incorporates internal baffling designed to reduce unwanted reflections.
CNC-machined aluminium tube rings with carrying handle and a 45 mm dovetail bar are supplied.
