DESCRIPTION
The Optolong SII 6.5 nm unmounted filter (36 mm) is designed for narrowband imaging of nebulae in the ionized sulfur emission line (SII). It transmits a 6.5 nm wide band centered at 672 nm while effectively blocking unwanted light from artificial sources such as mercury vapor, high and low-pressure sodium lamps, and atmospheric oxygen emission (skyglow).
This filter is ideal for imaging faint emission objects even under full moon or light-polluted urban skies. It is commonly used with H-alpha and OIII filters to create SHO compositions. It enhances contrast between the nebula and the sky background without increasing object brightness.
