ADPS I Baader for digital cameras

Description

The ADPS I (Afocal Digital Projection System) with 31.75 mm nosepiece is a complete solution for afocal projection with digital cameras or camcorders that do not have removable lenses. It is specifically designed for compact and electronic viewfinder cameras where the front lens of the camera must be positioned as close as possible to the telescope eyepiece to achieve sharp, vignette-free images.

This system builds on the mechanical base of the ADPS IV, and includes a 31.75 mm safety-groove nosepiece (#2458105) for secure insertion into any standard 1¼" focuser. At the core of the system is a sliding focuser equipped with a T-2 locking ring, which holds the projection eyepiece (not included) and allows precise axial positioning.

The system includes three T-2 extension tubes (2 × 15 mm and 1 × 7.5 mm), which enclose the eyepiece and determine the critical distance to the front lens of the camera. This projection distance is essential to avoid vignetting and ensure sharpness across the entire image field.

The integrated T-2 locking ring allows stepless rotation of the camera for precise framing, while ensuring a light-tight and rigid connection. The ADPS system is compatible with cameras that feature a front filter thread or can be fitted with one using a third-party filter adapter. In such cases, the camera is connected to the ADPS using a specific DT adapter (not included).

Unlike classical eyepiece projection with DSLR cameras (e.g. OPFA), where the lens is removed, afocal projection demands extremely short and precise distances between the eyepiece and the camera lens. The ADPS I provides this compactness while maintaining full modularity through the standard T-2 interface.

This unit is delivered without a projection eyepiece, DT-ring, or camera filter adapter. It is a professional solution for astrophotographers using non-interchangeable lens digital cameras who require a rigid, precisely adjustable, and play-free projection system.
