Description:
The iOptron HEM44 EQ SWG hybrid equatorial mount brings a revolution in lightweight, counterweight-free astronomy gear. Using a strain wave gear for the RA axis and a backlash-free belt system for the DEC axis, the mount achieves smooth, precise motion while remaining compact and transportable.

Weighing only 13.65 lbs (6.2 kg), it supports up to 44 lbs (20 kg) without the need for any counterweight, and up to 55 lbs (25 kg) with the optional counterweight system. The body is fully CNC-machined from anodized black aluminum, ensuring long-term durability.

It features an electronic friction brake, power-off position memory, and a high-precision stepper motor. Control is possible via Wi-Fi or USB through ASCOM for Windows, INDI for Mac/Linux/Raspberry Pi, or mobile apps like iOptron Commander Lite and SkySafari.

The included Go2Nova® 8409 hand controller features a 212,000+ object database, zero-position locator, and user-friendly GoTo capabilities. This model (HEM44) does not include a high-precision RA encoder (available on the HEM44EC), but remains highly accurate and stable.
