Description
The AZ 4000 HPS mount is based on the GM4000 HPS II mechanics and provides a very stable altazimuthal setup. It is ideal for scientific use such as satellite tracking, space debris monitoring, laser communication, high-resolution spectroscopy, photometric and astrometric measurements. Due to its alt-az configuration, a field derotator (such as PlaneWave IR90 or Optec Gemini) is required for long-exposure astrophotography, allowing for precise tracking with typical 10Micron performance.
The standard version supports one optical tube on one side and includes a counterweight bar. An optional dual telescope version supports up to 150 + 100 kg in side-by-side configuration. All parts are CNC-machined from aluminum alloy, with no cast components, ensuring optimal mechanical stiffness.
ColdTemp Upgrade (included in this version)
This upgrade extends the operational temperature range to −30 °C (components rated down to −40 °C). It must be installed during initial assembly and is not retrofittable. It includes:
• Premium low-temperature grease (viscosity stable to −60 °C) for bearings and worm gear
• Thermally compensated preloaded springs on axes
• All internal cabling replaced with low-temperature silicone/copper alloy wires
• Absolute encoders adapted for −40 °C continuous operation
• Extended temperature-rated embedded Linux control unit
• Multi-day cold chamber stress testing
Note: Wi-Fi is not compatible with the ColdTemp package.
