Description

The Baader Medium Pillar (BMP) is a high-end structural support solution designed for heavy-duty telescope mounts and observatory installations. It is exclusively available as part of a complete project when purchased directly from Baader.

Built from welded steel, the BMP pillar features a conical and octagonal geometry engineered to actively dampen mechanical vibrations. With a payload capacity of up to 250 kg, it is well-suited for mounts such as the GM 1000, GM 2000, and AP 900/1100 GTO.

The pillar includes a 3" internal cable duct, and its 500 × 500 mm base plate ensures secure anchoring to a properly prepared concrete pier, following Baader’s specifications. The top plate has a 240 mm diameter, is 1" (25 mm) thick, and includes three M14 bolts and a central hole for optional filling with quartz sand on-site, improving stability.

Each pillar is custom made, and the total height including the leveling flange is agreed upon with the customer based on structural requirements.

• The BMP pillar is not sold separately, only as part of a complete mount or observatory project.

• The listed prices are subsidized for bundled projects; standalone production at this price would not be feasible.

• A Baader leveling flange is required and must be ordered separately:

  • For GM 1000: #2451187

  • For GM 2000 or AP 900/1100 GTO: #2451171

• Pillar must be anchored to a concrete base built according to Baader’s specifications.

• Total height of pillar + flange should not exceed 175 cm

• Custom production only, with long delivery times expected
