The 10Micron GM2000 HPS II Combi is a high-end German equatorial mount designed for demanding astrophotographers and observatories. Combining the mobility of the Ultraport model with the rigidity of the Monolith version, it provides a versatile solution that excels in both mobile setups and fixed installations.
Modular construction
The mount separates into two components (18 kg and 15 kg) for easy transport and setup.
Locking system
Features dual-locking: fast connection for mobile use and reinforced locking for permanent installations.
Axes and bearings
50 mm alloy steel shafts mounted on preloaded tapered roller bearings ensure stability and precision.
Worm gears
24 mm tempered and ground steel worms drive 215-tooth bronze worm wheels with a 172 mm diameter.
Drive system
Zero-backlash transmission via timing belts and automatic compensation.
Motors
Two brushless servo motors deliver smooth, silent movement.
Absolute encoders on both axes
Enable sub-arcsecond tracking accuracy (less than 1 arcsecond RMS over 15 minutes) without autoguiding.
Sky modeling
Internal model supports up to 100 stars, correcting for flexure, polar misalignment, and atmospheric refraction.
Pointing accuracy
Typically better than 20 arcseconds RMS across the entire sky.
Slew speed
Adjustable from 2 to 20 degrees per second.
Meridian tracking
Software allows ±30° beyond the meridian, mechanical limit at ±45°.
Standalone control system
Embedded Linux-based control box allows fully autonomous operation without the need for a computer.
Hand controller
Heated, red-backlit graphical display, usable with gloves, with multilingual interface.
Interfaces
RS-232, Ethernet, built-in Wi-Fi, ST-4 autoguider port, GPS port.
Software compatibility
Supports ASCOM, LX200, and 10Micron's Perseus software. Also includes virtual keypad software for remote access.
Dome control
Compatible via RS-232 for dome automation.
Satellite and solar system tracking
Built-in database includes stars, deep sky objects, comets, asteroids, and artificial satellites.
Electronic balancing
Software-assisted balancing function without unlocking axes.
Multiple alignment models
Up to 100-star modeling, with storage for different configurations.
Custom park positions
User-defined park states for quick resume.
Tracking modes
Supports sidereal, solar, and lunar tracking speeds, configurable per axis.
Environmental resistance
Standard operating range from -15°C to +35°C; optional ColdTemp version operates down to -30°C.
