The 10Micron GM1000 HPS is a high-end German equatorial mount made for astronomers who require precision and reliability. With a 25 kg payload capacity and dual absolute encoders, it enables long exposures without the need for guiding.
The mount body is CNC-machined from aluminum and equipped with 30 mm steel axes. Motion is driven by brushless servo motors and zero-backlash timing belts. Final reduction uses 20 mm steel worms and 125 mm bronze B14 worm wheels with 250 teeth.
This results in excellent rigidity and smooth tracking, even with heavy optical tubes.
With its onboard sky model of up to 100 stars, the GM1000 HPS achieves average pointing accuracy of 20 arcseconds RMS. The system compensates for polar misalignment, tube flexure, and atmospheric refraction using onboard pressure and temperature sensors.
Tracking accuracy remains under 1 arcsecond over 15 minutes without autoguiding.
The included hand controller is red backlit, heated, and glove-friendly. All functions are accessible directly, making the mount fully autonomous.
Remote control is possible via RS-232 or Ethernet, with support for ASCOM, LX200, and most popular software. A virtual handpad replicates the interface on a PC.
Weighing only 19.5 kg (excluding the counterweight bar), the GM1000 HPS is ideal for field setups. It allows tracking up to 30 degrees past the meridian, for uninterrupted sessions up to 4 hours. Electronic balancing avoids unlocking the axes.
