DESCRIPTION

The Baader ASTF 200 mm OD 5.0 is a high-end solar filter designed for detailed white light observation and solar photography. It features the genuine Baader AstroSolar Safety Film OD 5.0 mounted completely stress-free in a thermally compensated cell. Unlike filters that stretch the film like a drum skin, this cell preserves the diffraction-limited optical quality of the film, even during extreme temperature variations from -30 °C to +50 °C.

The film is bonded to an injection-molded ring with the same thermal expansion as the film itself, ensuring long-term mechanical stability. A fiber-reinforced holding ring secures this assembly within the aluminum cell. The front of the cell features a reflective white IR-rejecting ring with reinforced edges to prevent damage.

The system includes six centering bolts (three 10 mm and three 20 mm), each with molded rubber faces and brass inserts, allowing secure and tool-free mounting to both outer and inner tube diameters. Aluminum sliders with engraved index scales ensure quick and repeatable alignment. Unused slots can be sealed with included rubber plugs. Three safety straps with adhesive Velcro pads provide additional security in windy conditions.

Warnings and instructions are printed directly on the cell. The filter is packed in a protective gift box with foam inserts for safe transport.
