DESCRIPTION
The Baader Moon & Skyglow 2" filter uses optical glass doped with neodymium, combined with a Phantom Group multicoating and full-spectrum UV/IR block. Originally a Carl Zeiss design, this filter boosts red tones (perfect for Mars and Jupiter), suppresses light pollution from streetlamps, and significantly enhances contrast without sacrificing brightness. It is planeoptically polished and maintains image sharpness even at high magnifications or when used in front of binoviewers or for afocal photography.
Selective wavelength blocking improves detail while preserving natural color balance. Transmission peaks at 95% in the visible band, while UV under 400 nm and IR over 700 nm are fully blocked. This results in tighter star images with DSLRs and better color differentiation for planetary or lunar observing.
Mounted in a 6 mm LPFC cell for optimal flatness and rigidity, it is compatible with all standard 2" filter threads. Unlike cheaper fire-polished filters, it maintains perfect wavefront quality, even at 200× magnification or more.
