Description

The Baader counterweight kit for Planewave optical tubes was developed to meet the stringent balance requirements of modern direct-drive mounts. Unlike classical worm-driven systems, these mounts demand perfect balance on all axes—both horizontal and vertical.

This kit mounts directly to the rear of the Planewave OTA using a dedicated straight mounting block. Counterweights can be attached on the top and bottom sides of the rear cell, allowing perfect vertical balancing without the need to place weights near the optical front, which could otherwise affect collimation or introduce stray light.

Included in the kit:

• one 1 kg stainless steel weight (Ø 75 x 30 mm)

• one 2.5 kg stainless steel weight (Ø 75 x 75 mm)

• one M14 threaded shaft, 150 mm long, Ø 16 mm

• one mounting block compatible with Planewave CDK telescopes

Each part is machined to precise tolerances, ensuring rigid attachment and vibration-free performance. This solution offers reliable balance correction while preserving optical integrity.
