The Baader M54 Extension Tube – 5 mm is a high-precision spacer used to finely adjust the optical distance between a camera and a telescope or corrector. It is built from high-quality aluminum and features an exact optical path length of 5 mm.
It provides a female M54x0.75 thread on the telescope side (3.5 mm deep) and a male M54x0.75 thread on the camera side (3 mm long), making it fully compatible with Baader's modular M54 system.
Unlike the older T-2 standard which used 5 mm thread depths, this extension ring adheres to the modern 3 mm norm to accommodate the increasingly compact backfocus requirements of current astro-cameras. It enables secure mechanical coupling without binding or misalignment and maintains optical integrity throughout the imaging train.
This adapter is particularly useful when fine-tuning the sensor position relative to focal reducers, flatteners, or filters, while maintaining a wide, stable thread connection ideal for heavy or large-format cameras.
