The Baader 19 mm extension tube is a precision accessory developed exclusively for the Alan Gee Telecompressor Mark II (T-2 part #20, #2454400). Its thin-walled design allows the corrector to be recessed deeper into the baffle tube of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, ensuring the correct working distance and achieving the full correction potential.
Without this extension tube, the corrector would sit too far in front of the baffle tube, limiting performance. This part is not universal: it is supplied with the Alan Gee II set and is only available separately as a replacement for lost or damaged original tubes.
It does not replace the 7.5 mm T-2 extension tube used with the Universal Alan Gee II Telecompressor (UAG II, #2454405) but is dedicated solely to the Alan Gee II.
The Alan Gee II Telecompressor, optimized for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, provides a variable reduction factor from f/3.5 to f/5.9, ideal for both imaging and binoviewing. The 19 mm extension tube enables experimentation with different working distances or replacement of original parts.
