DESCRIPTION
The Baader Hyperion 13 mm eyepiece is part of Baader Planetarium’s 68° Hyperion modular series. It features an 8-element optical configuration arranged in 5 groups, offering a 68° apparent field with excellent sharpness and edge-to-edge contrast. Its Phantom Group Coating ensures ultra-low reflectivity and optimized light transmission around 520 nm—the peak sensitivity range of the night-adapted human eye.

The modular design includes dual barrels (1¼" and 2") and multiple threads for connecting digital cameras or camcorders. The M43 thread supports classical eyepiece projection, while the SP54 thread enables afocal adaptation. Internal M28.5 and M48 threads support standard filters.

Fine-tuning rings (14 mm or 28 mm) allow for alternate focal lengths without introducing image-degrading elements, unlike Barlow lenses. The front lens group can also be removed for further focal length adjustment.

The eyepiece is parfocal with others in the Hyperion series, enabling fast switching without refocusing. Included accessories: dust caps, foldable eyecup, and a soft carrying pouch. It can also be used with Zeiss Diascope spotting scopes via Baader’s 1¼" bayonet adapter (#2454500), which mounts securely using three screws.
