DESCRIPTION
The Optolong CLS-CCD clip filter for Canon EOS APS-C is a broadband light pollution suppression filter designed for astrophotography in urban or suburban environments. It clips directly into Canon APS-C DSLR bodies. The CLS-CCD version includes infrared blocking from 700 to 1100 nm, making it suitable for use with modified DSLRs and color CCD cameras.
The filter reduces the transmission of common artificial light wavelengths, including mercury and sodium vapor emissions, as well as atmospheric skyglow, while maintaining high transmission in key nebular emission lines: OIII (496/500 nm), H-beta (486 nm), NII (654/658 nm), H-alpha (656 nm), and SII (672 nm).
The CLS-CCD significantly enhances contrast and visibility of faint emission and planetary nebulae, as well as supernova remnants. It can be used for both visual and photographic purposes. It does not eliminate light pollution or increase object brightness but improves sky contrast. Warning: never use this filter for solar observation.
