DESCRIPTION
The Baader 2" Single Polarizing Filter allows smooth brightness adjustment when paired with a second polarizing filter or a Herschel wedge, which already polarizes light. It is ideal for observing the Moon, planets, or the Sun in combination with AstroSolar ND 5.0 safety film. You can pair a 2" and a 1.25" filter (e.g., in an eyepiece and adapter) and rotate them to control brightness based on magnification. The filter mounts into 2" eyepiece threads and can be used after a Baader Herschel wedge. It enhances contrast in planetary observation. It is a neutral density-type filter with full-spectrum transmission. Warning: it must never be used alone for solar observation — always with proper front-end solar filtration (Herschel wedge or AstroSolar film). For integrated brightness control, Baader also offers dual polarizing filters (#2408340 in 1.25" or #2408344 in 2").
