Description:
The Baader 1.25" Polarizing Filter threads into standard 1.25" eyepieces and accessories. It improves contrast in lunar and planetary observation by reducing glare. For solar use, it is effective when placed behind a Baader Herschel Wedge, which already polarizes the light. In this setup, a single polarizing filter is sufficient for brightness control.
This filter is not adjustable on its own. To vary brightness, two single polarizing filters must be used together, or a double polarizing filter should be used instead.
Important safety note: this filter must never be used alone for solar observation. A proper solar filter (AstroSolar ND 5.0 film or Herschel wedge) is always required in front of the telescope.
Technical specifications:
Type: Single polarizing filter
Thread: 1.25" (M28.5 x 0.6 mm)
Application: lunar, planetary, solar (with proper front filtering)
Glass: optically polished
Weight: approx. 15 g
Additional information:
Ideal for use with a Herschel wedge. If brightness adjustability is needed, use in combination with a second polarizing filter or switch to Baader’s double polarizing filter model.
