Description:
The iOptron HEM27 EQ SWG hybrid equatorial mount is designed for astronomers on the move. Utilizing strain wave drive on the RA axis and a backlash-free belt on DEC, it eliminates the need for a counterweight while maintaining precise, reliable tracking.

With a total head weight of just 8.15 lbs (3.7 kg including the dual Vixen/Losmandy saddle), the HEM27 supports up to 29.7 lbs (13.5 kg) without counterweights, and up to 44 lbs (20 kg) with optional counterweights. Its anodized black, CNC-machined aluminum body ensures both ruggedness and portability.

The mount includes an electronic friction brake, position memory on shutdown, and supports full control via Wi-Fi or USB. Compatible with ASCOM (Windows), INDI (Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi), and mobile apps like iOptron Commander Lite and SkySafari.

The Go2Nova® 8409 hand controller includes over 212,000 celestial objects and allows for automatic zero position alignment. Note that this HEM27 version does not feature a high-precision RA encoder (available on the HEM27EC), but still offers excellent performance.

The HEM27 EQ SWG is particularly well suited for lightweight, portable setups. It can accommodate refractors up to 115 mm in aperture or camera lenses with compact center of gravity. Although it lacks an optical polar scope, polar alignment can be performed using the "Polar Align" routine built into the Go2Nova® 8409 hand controller. This feature enables accurate polar alignment without additional accessories. For faster setup or use in locations with limited horizon visibility, the optional iPolar module remains a recommended solution. The mount is compatible with iOptron’s MiniPier, LiteRoc, and Tri-Pier tripods.
