DESCRIPTION
The Baader Steeldrive II is a comprehensive focusing motor platform tailored for demanding amateur astronomers. The high-torque motor connects to the focuser’s slow motion shaft using a toothed belt for absolute precision and zero backlash, even with loads up to 8 kg. It delivers 2.5 µm focusing resolution and repeatable positioning.
Its external controller integrates full electronics and an intuitive keypad for standalone or PC-based control. Up to two temperature sensors can be connected for active thermal compensation. A contactless homing sensor ensures absolute position tracking, even after power loss.
Compatible with Baader’s Steeltrack and Diamond Steeltrack focusers, the Steeldrive II also offers a 12V PWM output for dew heaters. The SteelGO software and ASCOM drivers ensure seamless PC integration.
